About the Players…

Rusty Rose
Vocals
From: New Wilmington, PA

Front and center in Flash Flood's diverse line-up is Rusty Rose's powerful vocals, and comedic-influenced stage presence. Rusty has been a performer all her life, and started singing at the age of 6 with her two sisters in a group called “The Copper Kiddles”. She studied under her father who taught Music at the local school. She also played trumpet and trombone throughout her school years.

After high school, Rusty immersed herself into the local music scene and started performing in the area nightclubs. Later she relocated to Florida and performed with a number of touring club bands. In 1990 she appeared on Natalie Cole's Big Break TV show.

In 1993 she joined Flash Flood and has enjoyed many successful years of performing on the casino and theme park circuit, travelling all over the country. Since 2001 Flash Flood has called Destin, Florida "home", and have continued to deliver their unique blend of dance music, classic rock, and everything-in-between to packed houses.

How does Rusty feel about Destin? "Paradise is what they call it around here.
And that it is!"

Tim Morinelli
Bass Guitar / Keyboards / Vocals
From: Green Bay, WI

Tim is a multi-talented individual. He first started playing guitar when he was 7 years old, and soon after took up playing drums through High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay with a music major in percussion.

Early in his career, Tim played with a band called Moving Violation who opened for headliners such as Dokken, Metallica, Krokus, America, and Joan Jett. Later, he honed his skills with a show band called Vic Dana and Streetwise which performed at Italian festivals and show rooms from San Francisco to Hartford, Connecticut and everywhere in between.

Tim has been playing professionally since 1983, and in Flash Flood he plays not only bass, acoustic guitar, and keyboards, but also contributes lead and backup vocal performances. In addition, he also handles the MIDI sequencing and sound mixing for the band.

Tim cites as musical influences the likes of Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Jaco (of course), Roy Clark, and his band teacher from high school, Doug Nelson, who said "Its not what you play, or how fast you play it, But how people hear it!"

Tim "Pick" Pickering
Lead Guitar / acoustic guitar
From: Knoxville, TN

Pick has been playing guitar since 1976. He loves to play - and it shows in the intense energy he puts into his performances with Flash Flood.

Two highlights that stand out for Pick in his extensive performing career are opening for R.E.M. at the Knoxville World's Fair in 1982, and Flash Flood being voted "Best Regional Dance Band - 1993" in Tampa's Suncoast Music Awards.

Pick's guitar influences include Ronnie Montrose, Michael Schenker, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Joe Satriani, and Randy Rhodes. In his time away from the band, Pick enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, and expanding his musical horizons.

Binky Buckwalter
Drums / Percussion
From: Hampton, VA

Binky started playing drums at the age of 13. By the time he was 14, he was already making money playing professionally. When he was 18 he left Virginia behind to play with Flying Machine, a band from Atlanta, GA. After some time, he joined the Joe Savage Band, embarking on a nine year world tour. In 1989 Binky moved to Florida, and has resided there ever since.

On stage with Flash Flood, Binky's drumming is the sonic "glue" that cements the band's infectious grooves. Whether he's leaning on the beat, laying back, or "putting it right in the pocket," Binky is responsible for the rhythmic magnetism that pulls the dancers to the floor in droves.

Binky enjoys listening to jazz and heavy alternative music, and in his spare time he likes surfing the internet and watching informative documentaries and films.

More info about the band can be found at Flash Flood's Web site.
